Dear Mambo-fans,
When a discovered Mambo a month ago or so, I didn't seem to find a good gallery component at all. Until I found RSgallery. It fitted my needs, I thought...but then I wanted more!
So I began programming myself. the result: download it from http://www.mikedeboer.nl!
Changes to RSgallery (by Ronald Smit - rsgallery.homedns.org):
- I added an entirely new admin-menu (functions like 'new album', 'delete album', completed 'rename album', 'create database' and 'rebuild database' are added)
- The pop-up screen has been completely restyled: new lay-out, window-size adjusts with the size of the image.
- Comment feature added. 'classes/database.php' had to be modified, because the picture and comment-ability appears in a new window, so the path to the mambo-configuration file is incorrect. No configuration, no database!
- I wanted an icon displayed next to a picture if a comment exists for that picture, with in the alt-text: date of last comment, user who commented, number of comments. So, here it is! - with thanks to WhiteAlbum by WhiteAngel.
- Main-screen (the one with the list of galleries ) completely re-arranged. I think it's more stylish and fits better into the mambo-template idea. Other opinions are always welcome via e-mail.
- the display of the gallery-screen has also undergone some style-changes (for example: top bar with back-button).
- code changes, like the switch in the 'com_gallery.php' file and the new gallery_api.php & gallery_conf.php. Check them out, the code seems more readable to me now!
My todo-list:
- Create database through a php-interface. Advantage: ease-of-use and the table-prefix can be added to table names automatically. 80% done.
- Add titles to pictures instead of plain filenames for a title. I think Ronald Smit already worked that one out. 10% done.
- Upload multiple files simultaneously through the web-interface...a difficult one used by PHP Gallery, but I'm definitely going to crack this nut! The interface and basic coding is there already: 40% done.

Well, currently it is, but at the end of this month or the beginning of february I'm releasing a total make-over of zOOm Image Gallery.
It will be available for MOS 4.0.14 and 4.5, with more features than akoGallery and RSGallery together. This new version has almot nothing to do anymore with RSGallery and might be compared with phpGallery. It is yet, being in its beta-stage, the most advanced gallery-component for Mambo already (I don't mean to brag).
Anyway, wait 'till february, then I will release the new versions. I hope to be done by then, because porting to MOS4.5 is quite a job and I stil have to pass for my exams, you know!
